Founder and Creative Director
of Dream Studio

The year 2026 marks a significant milestone as Director Viet Tu celebrates his 25th year in the arts, defined by his distinctive creative philosophy: Unique DNA.
At its most fundamental level, stage art is the orchestration of light, sound, and intangible emotions. For Director Viet Tu, this journey began early, not through grand declarations, but through quiet observation and unwavering dedication.
From his internship at Vietnam Television (VTV), he carved out his own path with the independent program Những bài hát trong phim (Songs from Films), where iconic melodies such as Hoa sữa and Bài ca trên đỉnh núi were reimagined through the language of contemporary visual storytelling. This aesthetic sensibility continued to evolve through the creation of music video Ngủ ngoan nhé ngày xưa by singer Thu Phuong in the Bài hát tôi yêu (VTV’s My favourite songs) program, which established a new visual benchmark for Vietnamese music videos in their formative years.
In 2002, as Vietnam's music industry was seeking new forms of expression, liveshow Nhật Thực 1 (Solar Eclipse 1) emerged from a creative synergy between Director Viet Tu and singer Tran Thu Ha. The two performances at Hanoi Friendship Cultural Palace were not only a personal achievement but also a milestone for Vietnam’s music industry, marking one of the earliest explorations of “Conceptual stage” design in Vietnam. Continuing this artistic direction, he created an introspective classical music experience atop the Melia Hotel on New Year's Eve 2003, while also receiving an award from the Artistic Council for the music video Sói con ngơ ngác by Kasim Hoang Vu.

At the age of 26, Director Viet Tu
served as Television Director for
the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of
the 22nd SEA Games in 2003.
The project required exceptional technical precision and cultural sensitivity while coordinating 18 live broadcast cameras for millions of viewers across the region.
From this point on, Viet Tu’s development became synonymous with the evolution of foundational music programming on national television.
From that point onward, Viet Tu's career evolved alongside some of the most influential music programs in Vietnamese television history:
Con Đường Âm Nhạc (The Music Path 2005): A series dedicated to portraying legendary composers such as Phu Quang, Duong Thu, Nguyen Cuong, Thanh Tung, and Pho Duc Phuong. The format was deliberately restrained, allowing a pure dialogue between music and memory. The program earned the “Program of the Year” at the Dedication Music Awards for a second consecutive year.
Sao Mai Điểm Hẹn (Morning Star Rendezvous 2004): As the program's first General Director, he and his team established a professional performance platform that helped shape a new generation of artists, including Tung Duong, Kasim Hoang Vu, Ngoc Khue, and Luu Huong Giang. The program received the “Music Program of the Year” award at the Dedication Music Awards in 2005.
Con duong am nhac (2005): A series dedicated to sketching the portraits of legendary composers such as Phu Quang, Duong Thu, Nguyen Cuong, Thanh Tung, and Pho Duc Phuong. The program was intentionally minimalist, allowing space for a pure dialogue between music and memory, and went on to win the "Program of the Year" Cong Hien Award for the second consecutive time.

His years studying Arts Management and Contemporary Art in New York enriched his global perspective, while deeply strengthening his appreciation for local culture. This dual influence was reflected in projects including the Không gian âm nhạc (Music Space 2011 - 2012), singer Tung Duong's debut liveshow Những chuyến đi (Trips), the Bài hát yêu thích (The Favorite Songs, 2012 - 2015), Mùa đông Concert (The Winter Concert 2013), Ho Ngoc Ha Live Concert (2011, 2014), Vietnam's Night in Moscow (2013 - 2014), and especially the 3D ballet Swan Lake in August 2015.
Director Viet Tu also brought this contemporary mindset to next-generation entertainment formats such as the game show Sao đại chiến (VTV Celebrity Battle 2017), the WeChoice Awards (2017 - 2024), and the CocoFest Music Festival (2018).

In 2011, Director Viet Tu founded Dream Studio, a creative platform dedicated to developing and systematizing artistic ideas. It became the birthplace of works with substantial artistic depth, including the album Classic Meets Chillout by singer Pham Thu Ha, which won a Dedication Music Award in 2013.
The most contemplative transformation in Director Viet Tu's career was his decision to move art beyond the confined walls of traditional theatres, seamlessly integrating it with nature, heritage, and spiritual culture.
