VỀ DỰ ÁN

Under the theme “Nghin nam huong sac”, the Miss Vietnam 2010 Finale presented a complex creative challenge: how to infuse a large-scale beauty pageant with deep Vietnamese cultural identity without reducing the stage to a literal traditional illustration. Dream Studio selected the lotus as the central visual motif, developing the entire stage over water into a colossal lotus pond, serving as the immersive environment where contestants would appear and be crowned.

Backed by an investment exceeding 7 billion VND (at the 2010 valuation), the stage was adorned with 700 large silk lotus leaves and 300 silk lotus flowers, spanning a 1,000-square-meter water surface. This production also featured the longest runway in the history of beauty pageants at the time. To ensure a premium aesthetic, the stage floor was constructed from aluminum alloy panels rather than conventional plastics. The grand square hosting the finale was entirely reconstructed with an investment of 36 billion VND. A dedicated crew of 300 workers and technicians operated continuously for 20 days to finalize the staging, seamlessly integrating the 37 contestants into the performance landscape while ensuring the beauties remained the absolute focal point of the show.

The outdoor scale of the stage imposed immense technical demands, particularly concerning lighting and live broadcast operations. The lighting infrastructure mobilized over a hundred equipment categories and nearly 1,700 fixtures, integrated with the largest LED screen system available in 2010, catering to both the live audience and national television viewers. To guarantee pristine visual fidelity, the lighting design had to masterfully navigate the water's surface refraction, the reflective silk materials, the dynamic movements of the contestants, and the basin-shaped architecture of the venue.

The finale welcomed an audience of approximately 10,000 spectators, featuring standard competition rounds - from the Ao Dai, swimsuit, and evening gown segments to the Top 10 and Top 5 announcements. Interwoven between these segments were performances by renowned artists including My Tam, Ho Ngoc Ha, Dam Vinh Hung, and Duc Tuan, alongside thematic video presentations honoring Vietnamese women under the “Nghin nam huong sac” concept.

The defining hallmark of Dream Studio’s staging approach was ensuring that external performances did not dilute the competition's core focus. The overarching art direction, lighting, and spatial design were strictly oriented toward the contestants and the crowning moment. Elevating a cultural symbol, Dream Studio transformed the lotus into a monumental stage landscape - synthesizing water, silk, lighting, and movement to establish the night's visual centerpiece. This project concurrently laid the foundational groundwork for creatively and contemporarily integrating national cultural materials into mass entertainment and cultural events.

Alongside the SkyTeam Integration Ceremony and the Piaggio Window Display, director Viet Tu engineered a triad of the most colossal and innovative productions in Vietnam’s entertainment and event industry in 2010.
