To all the staff, partners, and artists involved in the project!
The Music Space series launched a significant experiment in establishing an independent venue for music appreciation in Vietnam. Rather than following the traditional concert model, Dream Studio developed the series as a meeting point for artists and audiences truly seeking a connection through music.
Held at the Nguy Nhu Kon Tum auditorium, a lecture hall dating back to the 19th century, the Music Space series was designed with a minimalist yet highly artistic spirit. Viet Tu infused the space with the atmosphere of 1930s and 1940s music salons, where the distance between artist and audience was bridged, allowing music to become the absolute center of the experience.
Each program in the series was developed as a standalone concert, featuring unique musical encounters between acclaimed artists. From Duong Ly and Tung Duong to performances by Tuan Ngoc, Thanh Lam - Quoc Trung, My Linh, Tran Thu Ha, Ho Ngoc Ha, and many others, the series created a space where musical personalities were free to experiment and engage in dialogue.
The hallmark of the Music Space series lay in its restrained stage production paired with meticulous musical structure. Devoid of circus acts, magic, or variety show elements, each program focused solely on the music, the artists, and the rapport with the audience. This approach helped revive an atmosphere of high-art music appreciation and inspired many subsequent programs to follow a similar model.
For Dream Studio, the Music Space series stands as a key milestone in the journey of building a contemporary musical language and developing independent art spaces in Vietnam. Along with "Nhung chuyen di" (The Journeys) and various other projects in 2011, the series helped affirm Dream Studio's creative vision of returning music to the heart of the artistic experience.
