Launched in 2016, LIM Lost In Space was considered one of the notable milestones of EDM culture in Vietnam during its early development stage, when stage experience and visual language began to be placed on par with music in the structure of a large-scale electronic performance program. The event posed a question “How must an EDM stage be engineered so that the audience doesn't merely hear the music, but feels fully immersed within it?”
The entire space was created with a large-scale three dimensional LED screen system operating on sliding rails, synchronously combined with visuals, lighting, and stage effects across every music layer. The center of the program was the DJ Stage inspired by the Marshmello figure, developed as a giant Pop Art sculpture weighing nearly a ton, moving on a rail system extending tens of meters. Not only being the DJ stage, the construction also became the visual symbol of the entire event, marking a new step forward in stage design and technique thinking in Vietnam at the time of 2016.
During the creative process, Dream Studio chose a different approach from many EDM festivals of the same time. Instead of creating the “biggest” stage, the goal was to create the “most special” stage where design, technology, and music blended into a unified experience, meeting the standards of international artists.
Closing the program, the comment “Stage of all stages” from Marshmello became a deeply meaningful recognition for the project's stage design. Coming from an artist who had performed on the world's top EDM stages, this endorsement is a testament to the creative capacity and the ability to realize large scale ideas of Dream Studio.
For Dream Studio, Lost In Space was an important milestone in the journey of bringing international stage design thinking into the Vietnamese market. The project proved that the value of an EDM festival does not only lie in the performing artists but also in the ability to architect a visual world capable of becoming an unforgettable part of the music experience.
