VỀ DỰ ÁN

Following the profound impact of Dep Fashion Show “Cơn ác mộng của người thợ may” (The Tailor’s Nightmare), Dream Studio's “Bữa tiệc của các tín đồ” (The Devotees' Feast) pioneered a radical shift in Vietnam's hair show landscape. Moving beyond the rigid framework of a technical styling demonstration, the event was elevated into a comprehensive performance art masterpiece with a complete theatrical architecture. Dream Studio led the charge in dismantling the conventional hair show format, transforming it into a cohesive theatrical production composed of independent acts, all seamlessly connected by an overarching narrative exploring humanity's quest for beauty.

Drawing inspiration from the Renaissance spirit and Leonardo da Vinci's masterpiece, “The Last Supper”, Dream Studio synthesized elements from classical painting, literature, and contemporary art to engineer a highly distinctive performance language. The imagery of “The Last Supper” served as the conceptual material for the opening act; the biblical tale of Samson and Delilah was translated into a profound performance on love and betrayal; while evocative themes from classic literature, such as Fyodor Dostoevsky’s “The Idiot”, further expanded the narrative arc of humanity's pursuit of aesthetic perfection.

A pivotal innovation of the program was Dream Studio’s restructuring of the narrative flow. Discarding the traditional MC model, the show was guided by a narrator, the late composer Ho Quang Binh. He served not merely as a symbolic figurehead but as a continuous theatrical character anchoring the entire production. The Hair Show was designed like a classical play, divided into distinct acts, each presenting an independent story with its own introduction, development, and resolution, yet only fully decipherable when experienced as part of the unified whole.

At the Hanoi Opera House, Dream Studio continued its philosophy of transforming the spatial environment into an integral component of the artwork. Eschewing conventional stage decorations, all standard backdrops were eliminated. Instead, 1200 neon lights were structurally integrated into the design, forming colossal luminous spheres across the stage. Furthermore, the technical lighting rigs were dynamically raised and lowered, purposefully incorporated into the stage decor. These structures were subsequently deconstructed to serve as physical materials for a contemporary dance sequence, effectively turning the stage infrastructure itself into an active participant in the artistic evolution.

“Bữa tiệc của các tín đồ” (The Devotees' Feast) laid the foundational methodology not only for future Davines Hair Shows but for commercial event production at large. Dream Studio pioneered the integration of contemporary art, literature, painting, and diverse expressive forms to forge a signature theatrical language, refusing to rely on standard commercial event archetypes. This project stands as a definitive milestone where director Viet Tu and Dream Studio expanded creative horizons, introducing avant-garde expressive forms into the entertainment market and transcending the established performance boundaries of that era.
